JapanSupermarket Trade Show - February 13-15, 2019
Tokyo, Japan
The Supermarket Trade Show, coordinated by the New Supermarket Association of Japan (NSAJ), is a key opportunity for exporters targeting the Japanese retail, wholesale, ready meal and foodservice industry. This is an important tradeshow for companies whose products are already present in Japan, and who are looking to expand their reach in the market. The Embassy of Canada to Tokyo is a sub-member of the NSAJ, and can facilitate advance access to apply for the show for Canadian companies wishing to purchase their own booth space. There may also be opportunities to showcase Alberta products already present in the Japanese market via an information booth, without company travel to Japan.

HalalMarketing Halal Beef Products (Grant Winton, AF) - The halal market offers great potential, says Winton. “I hesitate to put dollar figures on it, but the easiest way to look at it is how entire countries would open up to our meat products. Take Indonesia, for example. It is the world’s fourth largest county by population, and it is one that is not presently purchasing large quantities of Alberta beef products. Indonesia’s population is predominantly Muslim, and it would look for halal foods.”
SIAL CanadaAlberta Companies Participate in SIAL Canada Montreal (Shelly Nguyen, AF) - Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan secured booth space at SIAL Canada’s May 2018 show in Montreal to create a Western Canadian Pavilion that showcased 19 companies including six from Alberta.
South KoreaAlberta products showcased at the Seoul Food Show (Katie Meredith, AF) - Five Alberta agri-food exporters were showcased in Korea during the Seoul Food Show trade mission, held April 30 to May 4, 2018.
